The Sultan of Sokoto and Chairman Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, has declared Sept. 1, as the Eid-Kabir  day.  According to the statement made available to newsmen in Sokoto on Wednesday, indicate the declaration follows the sighting of the new moon of Zulhijja on Tuesday.  “The advisory committee in conjunction with the National Committee on Moon Sighting received various reports on moon sighting across the country confirming the sighting of new moon of Zulhijja on Tuesday"  He added that Sultan felicitates with all Muslims and wished them Allah’s guidance, blessings and protection.

The Federal Government on Tuesday revive post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (Post-UTME) screening exercise which was cancelled during 2015/2016 admission exercise.  Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, gave the directive, regretted the earlier decision to cancel the post-UTME screening exercise as a great mistake, said that the volte-face by government was because of the economic challenges that engulfed the nation and the reality on ground. The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission  (LASIEC)   yet to pay the Ad-Hoc staff who were hired for the  Local Government Election which held on  July 22nd  in the  20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas of the state . Exactly 31 days of conducting the election,the Electoral  Commission has failed in his promise to pay its staff  allowances and  bonus  between the range of 15,ooo naira and 50,000 naira.
