DELSU Join The Nationwide Strike

Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, activities  have been grounded as a result of the on-going nationwide strike by university unions. The institution’s chapters of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT)  have joined their counterparts in the nationwide strike called national body of SSANU. While SSANU declared its strike with effect from September 11, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) had earlier embarked on strike in August. But DELSU’s chapter of ASUU backed out of the strike. However, the current academic vacation of the institution ensured that lecturers did not have much to do. Apple Announce IPhoneX Release Date

Apple   announced the latest addition to its products, the iPhone X which is actually pronounced “iPhone 10”. Order start by October 27 and shipment starts from November 3. The new phone was introduced in addition to its new products, the iPhone 8 & 8s. The iPhone X  features a new 5.8-inch OLED display that’s more colorful than the LCD screens Apple used in earlier iPhones. Apple is branding it the “Super Retina Display.” The screen runs almost top to bottom and side to side, too, something Apple has never done before. According to Apple, OLED displays come with trade-offs compared with its Retina Displays, but that its Super Retina Display supports high dynamic range, offers the best color accuracy on the market and 3-D Touch support. UNILAG Postpone Its Post-UTME

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) says it has postponed indefinitely its Post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (Post-UTME) earlier scheduled for Sept. 18 to Sept. 22. The institution’s Registrar and Secretary to Council, Dr Taiwo Ipaye, said in on Tuesday in Lagos that a new date for the screening would be announced later on the university’s website. “However, this postponement does not affect the ongoing application for the post-UTME screening which closes officially on Sept. 15,’’ Ipaye said in a statement. “Candidates and the public are requested to visit the institution’s website regularly for information on the new dates.

Catastrophe In Yama As 400 People Oust

Flood disaster oust over 400 people in Yama village of Shira Local Government Area of Bauchi State. This was disclosed by the state’s Information Officer of the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, Rufai Yami, while giving an update on the disaster.  According to Mr. Rufai, apart from ousted persons, farmlands and property were also destroyed, reiterate that “at the initial stage, some of the affected victims, who took refuge in some primary schools in the local government, later went to their relatives while others went back to their houses.”  Reacting to the development, Permanent Secretary, SEMA, Shehu Abu Ningi, said the state government had purchased food and non-food items worth N11 million and distributed it to the affected victims.  He attributed the flood to indiscriminate disposal of refuse on waterways, which caused the blockage of the drainage.

CJN To Confer Osinbajo`s Brother And Other 29 Legal Practitioners SAN

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Justice Walter Onnoghen, will designate 30 legal practitioners that were recently conferred with the rank of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN) in Nigeria  on September 18. According to a statement from the Chief Justice of Nigeria, disclosed that the event will take place at the main courtroom of the Supreme Court. It is part of events lined up to flag off the 2017/ 2018 legal year of the apex court, which has been on vacation since July 17.  Among those that were elevated to the prestigious rank included younger brother to the Vice President of Nigeria, Akinlolu Osinbajo, who was Attorney General of Ogun State. Attorney-General of Kwara State, Kamaldeen Adeyemi Ajibade, former national legal adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party and gubernatorial candidate of Alliance for Democracy in Ondo State, Chief Olusola Oke, as well as human rights lawyer, Festus Keyamo, also made the list.
