Eight Students Fear Death As Building Collapse In Lagos

Eight children are confirmed dead while 40 have been rescued at building collapse,  in the Ita-Faaji area of Lagos Island on Wednesday. Report make it known that there are about 150 pupils in the school. 30 of this number had ventured out for sporting activities when the collapse occurred. According to an eye witness, who said that those who sustained injuries among the pupils have been taken to the hospital. School has more than 100 registered students. Shops and homes on other floors. It was gathered that the Primary School is located on the top floor of the building, which is reported to be a residential building with several apartments. . Officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and other rescue official are currently at the scene. Algerians Protest Against President Abdelaziz Bouteflika's Fifth Term

Hundreds of protesters marched through the Algerian capital demanding President Abdelaziz Bouteflika's immediate resignation. On Monday, the president postponed the 18 April presidential elections and dropped his bid for a fifth term. Protesters are accusing the president of a ploy to prolong his 20-year rule. Talks have been set up to negotiate Algeria's political future, which will be led by veteran UN diplomat Lakhdar Brahimi. However, President Abdelaziz Bouteflika has led the country for 20 years but has not spoken in public since 2014. The protesters, who chanted "No tricks, Bouteflika", had responded to calls on social media to continue the protests. One of the messages said: "We will march more determined than ever to end this system, to end this mafia. We want a republican and democratic state. "No to manipulation, let's be vigilant. INEC Declared 22 Of The 29 States Where Governorship Election Held

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared winners in 22 of the 29 states where governorship elections were held last Saturday. The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) 13 won by candidates, leaving the rest for the 9 states for Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). INEC declared six states governorship polls  inconclusive due to violence and cancellation of votes which were higher than the difference between the two leading candidates in each of the states.  while the electoral process in Rivers State was undergoing review by the electoral umpire. The states where the INEC will organise supplementary elections are: Sokoto, Bauchi, Adamawa, Plateau, Benue and Kano. All but one of the states so far won by the opposition party are in the Southeast and the Southsouth. Only two of the elected governors  are coming into office afresh. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to conduct supplementary governorship election in Adamawa, Bauchi, Benue, Kano, Plateau and Sokoto on Saturday, March 23. The governorship elections which  held last Saturday, March 9 in Adamawa, Bauchi, Benue, Kano, Plateau and Sokoto were declared inconclusive due to violence and cancellation of votes which were higher than the difference between the two leading candidates in each of the states. Festus Okoye, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, lnformation and Voter Education Committee made this known Tuesday at the end of the meeting of the Commission in Abuja. 23-year-old Graduate Arrest With 250gm Of Skunk Cannabis By NDLEA

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Edo has arrested a 23-year-old graduate with substance suspected to be skunk Cannabis on Tuesday.  The state Commander of the NDLEA, Mr Buba Wakawa, who disclosed this to newsmen in Benin, said the substance weighed about 250 grammes.  According to Wakawa, skunk cannabis is a hybrid-sativa strain of marijuana that creates a skunk-like smell. He said that the suspect, who hailed from Ogbadibo Local Government Area of Benue, was arrested at Okada in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo. He said other suspected illicit drugs recovered from the suspect included eight wraps of crack cocaine weighing 24 grammes, and 45 tablets of rohypnol.  The Commander said that the arrest was based on information received on the illegal activities of the suspect in the state.
