Sultan Of Sokoto Declared Sept 1 As Eid-Kabir Day

The Sultan of Sokoto and Chairman Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, has declared Sept. 1, as the Eid-Kabir  day. 

According to the statement made available to newsmen in Sokoto on Wednesday, indicate the declaration follows the sighting of the new moon of Zulhijja on Tuesday. 

“The advisory committee in conjunction with the National Committee on Moon Sighting received various reports on moon sighting across the country confirming the sighting of new moon of Zulhijja on Tuesday"


 He added that Sultan felicitates with all Muslims and wished them Allah’s guidance, blessings and protection.

Thugs Invade Ogbomoso Polling Unit

Armed thugs invaded Ogbomoso polling unit at Oke Ola Farm Settlement, Unit Four of Ogbomoso South Local Government Area of Oyo State, and carted away thumb-printed ballot papers in all the units in the area. Olamide Adewale, who made a distress call said, “Hoodlums armed to the teeth just invaded unit 4A in Oke Ola farm settlement here in Ogbomoso South local government and forcefully ferried away all the ballot boxes en route Ogbomoso/Oyo road. They went in Oyo direction,” he said. Reports also revealed that the ballot boxes at Ward 3 Unit 3 in Ibadan Northwest were snatched in the presence of security agents around 2pm.
