INEC Cancel Another Polls In Rivers State

Premium Times reports that the decision of the electoral body followed the violence that engulfed the area during voting on Saturday.

The decision was confirmed by
the Resident Electoral Commissioner for the south-south state Obo Effanga.  “There was no election at all,” Effanga was quoted as saying of the electoral activities that took place Akuku-Toru.

This report comes just hours after INEC cancelled the February 23, 2019 Presidential and National Assembly elections in Bonny local government area of the state. Election in Bonny LGA has now been rescheduled for a later date after voting reportedly failed to take off in the morning as expected.

The commission’s spokesperson in Rivers state, Edwin Enabor, who confirmed the development said the commission will pick a new date for the election in the LGA to hold.
