Prince Eheneden Crown As The 39th Oba Of Benin Kingdom

Prince Eheneden Erediauwa, the Crown Prince of Benin Kingdom as the 39th Oba of Benin Kingdom and 70th ruler in the Ogiso dynasty, on Thursday at the Usama Palace ground.
Erediauwa is ascending the 836-year-old throne of his ancestors which is the oldest and one of the most revered in Nigeria
Prince was crowned by the Usama N’ Ihiron also known as the Edion led by Chief Oliha. The crowning was done privately inside the Usama Palace, a temporary building erected for the coronation ceremony.
The coronation ceremony was performed in the inner chambers, He had been crowned in the early hours of the day, about 2.00am and came out of the Usama Palace at about 1.00pm.
The oba appearance was greeted with a loud ovation from his subjects comprising different groups, societies, palace chiefs and women groups who trouped out to witness the historic occasion.
Among those that present is Chief Omohor of Benin Kingdom, bearer of the ancient sword carried by the Oba, the Ikpakohen group ( royal drummers) from Ikpema responsible for beating the royal drum, Ekassa dance group, Isienmwenro guild amongst others.
Before his journey to Urhokpota Hall where he was given the staff of office by Governor Adams Oshimhole of Edo state, the new Oba made a brief stopover at Iwehen where the Iwehen Ewaise performed some traditional rites enroute the historic Omi River and was received by Chief Omoruyi Isekhere.
Speaking before the symbolic crossing of Omi River, Chief Isekhe said he was happy to perform the functions of his fore-fathers by helping the Oba cross the Omi River to the palace.
