Breaking: Prison Break in Edo, inmates freed

Ongoing Chaos in Benin City, the Edo State Capital as prisoners in detention are breaking out, jumping fence following an early morning unrest caused by thugs that are said to have hijacked the ENDSARS Protest according to our source. An eyewitness in Benin said that, “The thugs have broken into the Nigerian prisons at Benin Sapele road and are currently setting prisoner free”. – Mr Efosa Mudia Mr Mudia who was on the phone with our correspondent and panting while speaking said, “They stormed the premises of the Sapele Road prisons, from what I can see where I am everyone is scampering for safety, but i saw a few of the prisoners jump out of the fence but i will provide more details to you”. Calls put through to the spokesperson of the Nigerian Prisons Service were not responded to as at the time of filling this report but we shall be updating our readers about the situation in Benin City.

Breaking: NYSC orientation camp to open Nov 10 ― FG

The Federal Government has announced November 10, 2020, as resumption date for NYSC Orientation Camp across the country. This was made known on Thursday by the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare via his official Twitter handle He said, “The Resumption of the NYSC Orientation Camp for prospective Youth Corpers has been approved and opens on November 10th 2020. Full COVID-19 Protocols will be enforced.

INEC declares Akeredolu winner of Ondo governorship election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared incumbent Governor and All Progressives Congress Candidate (APC) Rotimi Akeredolu, as the winner of just concluded Ondo State Governorship election. He defeated his main challenger and candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Eyitayo Jegede, and his Deputy Governor and candidate of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Agboola Ajayi, to emerge the winner. The incumbent governor won 15 of the 18 Local Government Areas results declared by INEC while his closest rival, Jegede, won in three local government areas and Ajayi failed to win none, including his LGA where he lost to his principal. Akeredoku polled 292,830, as against Jegede who garnered 195,791.

Breaking: IGP ban SARs nationwide

The Inspector-General of Police, Adamu Mohammed has scrapped the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (F-SARS). The IGP disbanded the police squad on Sunday, October 11, 2020, after days of demonstrations against the police unit by Nigerian youths. The dissolution of the police squad that was infamous for human rights abuse was announced in a statement by the Force PRO, Frank Mba. The statement said the disbandment of squad was in response to the yearnings of the Nigerian people, adding that all officers of the defunct Special Anti-robbery Squad will be redeployed with immediate effect. The statement reads in part, " In the finest spirit of democratic, citizen-centred and community policing, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP M.A Adamu, NPM, mni has today, 11th October, 2020, dissolved the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) across the 36 State Police Commands and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) where they hitherto existed.

BREAKING: IGP bans FSARs from stop-and-search

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Abubakar Adamu, has banned the personnel of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS). The police force in a statement signed by PPRO, Frank Mba demanded that all stop and search duties and patrols by SARS be terminated with immediate effect. The operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) and other Tactical Squads of the Force, including the Special Tactical Squad (STS), Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Anti-Cultism Squad and other Tactical Squads operating at the Federal, Zonal and Command levels, from carrying out routine patrols and other conventional low-risk duties. Such duties, which include stop -and- search duties, checkpoints, mounting of roadblocks and traffic checks, among others are to stop with immediate effect according to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mba, on Sunday. BREAKING: Laycon wins Big Brother Naija, clinches N85m prize.

Olamilekan Agbeleshe has emerged winner of the Big Brother Naija Season 5. Fondly known as Laycon, the young lad beat 19 other housemates to be crowned the winner of this year’s reality television show. Laycon was declared the winner of the 2020 lockdown edition of the show on Sunday after he beat other housemates with the highest number of votes from viewers. Fellow housemate, Dorathy, emerged the 1st runner up while Nengi was declared the 2nd runner up. Laycon led by 60 per cent votes followed by Dorathy with 21.85 per cent votes. However, Nengi had 15.03 per cent votes while Neo and Vee had 1.94 per cent and 1.18 per cent votes, respectively.
