Nigeria Chief Justice Swear in 38 SAN

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Ibrahim Muhammad, will on Monday September 23, swear in 38 new Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN) at the main courtroom of  the  Supreme Court. The swearing in ceremony, according to the Supreme Court’s Director of Press and Information, Festus Akande, is one of the several programmes lined up to herald the 2019/2020 legal year of the Supreme Court of Nigeria. Akande said in line with the custom of the apex court during such programmes, the CJN will deliver a state-of-the Judiciary address which is ostensibly to highlight the performance of the Supreme Court, and by extension, the Nigerian Judiciary in the outgoing 2018/2019 legal year. He recalled that out of the 117 legal practitioners that applied for the Rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 2019, 38 were successful at the end of the rigorous exercise

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu Bag Africa Award

The National Stalwart of Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has won African Democracy Award for his efforts to grow democracy and good governance on the continent. A nd Ethiopian Prime Minister,  Abiy Ahmed was also awarded. The award was conferred on them at the 4th Africa Political Summit and Diamond Awards in Addis Ababa, the Ethiopian capital, where the two political figures were hailed for their huge commitments to democracy, freedom of speech and socioeconomic and political developments of their countries.

Nigerian Emerge As Outstanding Student In Beijing

A Nigerian emerged the most outstanding student of University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) Beijing in China.  Student identified as a Nigerian, Peter Eze has was awarded during the convocation ceremony which held on June 25 - The remarkable student is said to have worked as an aide to Senator Orji Uzo Kalu. The award winner, who bagged a master's degree in public administration was honoured during the ceremony has made himself, family and country proud after emerging as the most outstanding student of University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) Beijing in China.  While speaking to The Cable, Eze expressed appreciation to God for the feat while also thanking Kalu, his boss, for his support. The school which he graduated from, UIBE, founded in 1951, is one of China’s top ranking universities with economics, management, law, literature and science.

Alake and Olota Tension is mounting in several areas of Ogun State as two of the prominent monarchs in the region trade verbal tirade over claims and counterclaims of sovereignty over several disputed towns.  The Alake of Egbaland oba Michael Adedotun Gbadebo is facing off against the Olota of Ota in Aworiland oba Adeyemi Abdulkabir Obalanlege. The bone of contention revolves around who gets the historical, customary and legal royal authority over the Awori towns of Sango-Ota, Atan-Ota, Ijoko-Ota, Abúlé Ore-Ota, Adekoyeni-Ota and the Gbalefa-Ota peninsula. Couple Fear Death In Road Accident

Five persons, including a couple, died in a road accident in Abuja on Sunday as sixth person, who was seriously injured in the incident which occurred at about 8 a.m. near Setraco Junction along Kubwa Expressway, was rushed to the hospital. According to an official of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr Emmanuel Agbo, the incident occurred when a Toyota Camry car coming from Kubwa area to Abuja city centre was hit by a trailer. Agbo told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at the scene of the incident, that the impact of the contact with the trailer, which was travelling in the same direction, forced the car, with six passengers, off the road. “The impact forced the car, with registration number ABC 978 SL, to crash onto a concrete pillar of a bridge across the highway. “Five persons in the car, including a couple, died on the spot. Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi on Saturday emerged the Man of the Match in Nigeria’s 0-0 draw with Zimbabwe in an international friendly match played at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba . Mikel was named the Man of the Match for his impressive display in the midfield and showed Nigerians that he is set to lead the Super Eagles to Egypt for the AFCON 2019 glory. Nigeria and Zimbabwe are preparing for the Africa Cup of Nations – could not find the back of the net as it rained throughout in the Stephen Keshi Stadium.
