BREAKING: Rep Member Shot in Oyo, Temitope Sugar, Dies In UCH

 Hon Temitope Olatoye, A member, representing Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Temitope Olatoye, popularly known as Sugar, who was earlier reported shot, is dead. Olatoye was shot by suspected thugs in Elesu village in Ward 13, Lalupon, Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State, on Saturday evening. Olatoye, who contested for the seat of Oyo central senatorial seat under the Action Democratic Party was said to have been shot in the head during the election. It was learnt that Sugar was rushed to the Accident and Emergency Centre of the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan. He died at the intensive care unit of the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, on Saturday, evening, following a gunshot wound he sustained after he was shot in the eye by unknown gunmen in Ibadan. His death report has been confirmed by the Public Relations Unit of the UCH, Ibadan.

Thugs Invade Ogbomoso Polling Unit

Armed thugs invaded Ogbomoso polling unit at Oke Ola Farm Settlement, Unit Four of Ogbomoso South Local Government Area of Oyo State, and carted away thumb-printed ballot papers in all the units in the area. Olamide Adewale, who made a distress call said, “Hoodlums armed to the teeth just invaded unit 4A in Oke Ola farm settlement here in Ogbomoso South local government and forcefully ferried away all the ballot boxes en route Ogbomoso/Oyo road. They went in Oyo direction,” he said. Reports also revealed that the ballot boxes at Ward 3 Unit 3 in Ibadan Northwest were snatched in the presence of security agents around 2pm.

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has said that his party will clear the polls because it is “the only party” in Lago State. The ex-Governor of Lagos State spoke with the  News Agency of Nigeria  after casting his vote in the Saturday governorship/state Houses of Assembly election in Lagos. “We are going to win because we are the only party in Lagos State. Others are pretenders — they come and they will go away. A leopard cannot change its skin. “Lagos State belongs to the progressives; we are progressives and we will remain progressives,” he said. Tinubu said that Lagos State had been the best in terms of economic development, insisting that right from his tenure as governor till date, the state has witnessed tremendous development. “For Lagos, it has seen tremendous development since I was the governor. Before then, the highest Internally Generated revenue was N600m per month. Now, it is over N30bn.

Sanwo-Olu Floor PDP In His Polling Unit

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has won in Lateef Jakande/Femi Okunnu Polling Unit in Ikoyi, where he voted. Sanwo-Olu got 124 votes to defeat his closest contender, Jimi Agbaje of the Peoples Democratic Party, who got 26 votes at the polling unit. The candidate of the Action Democratic Party, Babatunde Gbadamosi, came third at the polling unit with two votes. The APC lost the polling unit by six votes to the PDP during the February 23 presidential election. The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has said he is confident of victory at the end of today’s polls. Sanwo-Olu said this in an interview with journalists shortly after voting alongside his wife, Ibijoke, at the Lateef Jankande/Femi Okunnu Polling Unit in Ikoyi. Describing the election day as divine, Sanwo-Olu said it was exactly six months ago that he obtained the form and joined the Lagos governorship race.
