Buhari Given insurgents Amnesty

The administration will give unconditional amnesty to insurgents willing to lay down their arm says President Buhari The President stated this on Friday while receiving the freed Dapchi schoolgirls at the presidential Villa. Buhari said the security agencies would not hesitate to deal with those seeking political gains from the abduction. He also asked the security agencies to ensure that there is no repeat of students' abduction . Almost all the freed Dapchi schoolgirls had one skin infection or the other for not bathing for one month.

Cameroon Minister Arrest In Nigeria

Former Minister of Water and Energy in Cameroon, Mr. Atangana Kouna, arrested in Nigeria and flown back home. According to police and local sources, Kouna was arrested amidst a crackdown on high-level corruption in the French African country, Reuters reported on Friday. There were speculations that Kouna was arrested as part of an anti-corruption drive known as Operation Sparrowhawk. Two other persons — a former Ministry of Public Works and the head of a state company, also an ex-rector of the University of Douala — were arrested earlier in the week as part of the operation.

US President Sign Unwilling Federal $1.3trillion Bill

The US President Donald Trump on Friday signed a $1.3 trillion compromise federal spending bill despite being “unhappy” with many of its provisions — thereby averting what would have been the third government shutdown of 2018. Trump said he signed the measure that had passed the Senate just hours earlier “as a matter of national security,” because it dramatically expands military funding and provides for “the largest pay increase” for US troops in over a decade. “There are a lot of things I’m unhappy about in this bill. There are a lot of things we shouldn’t have had in this bill but we were, in a sense, forced (to have) if we want to build our military,” he said in a hastily arranged media event at the White House.

Yabatech Rector Charge Staff Union To Commence Night Class

Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Rector Mr Obafemi Omokungbe, on Friday charged the academic staff union of the college to commence 7p.m. to 9p.m. lectures, following the establishment of a Common Room in the college. Mr. Omokungbe gave the advice at the inauguration of a Common Room, established by members of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) YABATECH Chapter. 70year Father Defile 9year old girl

The Edo State government has handed over 70 years old Francis Ezomo, and his two sons; Nosa Ezomo, 26 years old and Festus Ezomo, 29 years old, to the Edo State  Commissioner of Police, Mr Johnson Kokumo, for allegedly defiling a nine-year-old girl, who is a relative of Mr Francis Ezomo’s wife.  According the Acting Chairman of the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and Special Adviser to the Edo State Governor on Basic Education, Dr. Joan Osa Oviawe, told journalists after the suspects were handed over to the Police at Government House, Benin City, that the case was reported to her office by the headmistress of the minor.

Finance Minister suspend Director-General Of The Securities And Exchange Commission

The Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun on Wednesday announced the suspension of the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Mr. Mounir Gwarzo, over an allegation of financial impropriety levelled against him. Also suspended are two management staff of the Commission.  Head of Media Division, Mr. Abdulsalam Naif, and Head of Legal Department Mrs. Anastasia Braimoh.

ASUP Suspend Its 15day Nationwide Strike

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has suspended its 15-day nationwide strike with effect from Wednesday, November 29. President of ASUP, Usman Yusuf Dutse, announce this at  its 14 National Delegates Conference in Bauchi, co-hosted by the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi and the Tatari Ali Polytechnic, Bauchi while holding press conference. The ASUP boss, stated the issues that led to their action to include non- implementation of the report of the needs assessment survey of polytechnics, sustained shortfall in personnel releases and withdrawal of their allowances since December, 2015, and non-payment of promotion arrears And also disclosed other factors includes non-implementation of staff salaries in some state owned polytechnics, infractions in the appointment process of rectors of polytechnics, non-release of CONTISS 15 migration arrears, non-passage of amendment bill of the polytechnic act and continued victimisation of officers of the union.
