The American singer and songwriter,  Beyonce’s album “Lemonade” and world tour made her the highest-paid woman in music in 2017 According to an annual Forbes list on Monday. The Pop Diva edged out Britain’s Adele and pop star Taylor Swift to  earned 105 million dollars from record sales and from her “Formation” concert tour. Forbes stated that Beyonce also has her own Ivy Park fashion line and other business interests.  Adele, whose “25” album broke first-week U.S. sales records in 2015 and who completed her first major tour since 2011, made second place with an estimated 69 million dollars, despite having no major endorsements for other products.

The Kaduna State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Jonathan Andrew Nok, is dead. He was born on 11 February 1962 and hailed from Nok Village in Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State. Until his appointment as the Commissioner of Health and Human Services; and later Commissioner for Education by Governor Nasir el-Rufai, Nok (MFR), was a professor of Biochemistry at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

Former Central Bank Deputy Governor and Founder, Institute for Governance and Economic Transformation (IGET), Professor Chiedu Moghalu, has called for setting of national ambition for Nigeria, with leaders who can execute a sustainable vision for the country to transform the economic structure and the lives of citizens. Moghalo explained this at the 5th Goddy Jidenma Foundation Public Lecture held at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Victoria Island, Lagos. Joining other influential leaders, emphasized that Nigerians should stop underestimating the sheer scale of the challenge to the country’s economic growth. According to Prof Moghalo “Nigeria has failed to achieve intensive and effective economic growth because the country’s economy is managed mostly on an ad-hoc, reactive basis.  It is a ‘survival’ economy in which most governments have had no real economic vision or a strategy to execute such a vision successfully .

Federal Government has proposed to spend N7.26 billion on the Presidential Air Fleet, PAF, in the 2018 budget proposal.  According to details by the Budget Office, about N4.3 billion of the amount was proposed for recurrent expenditure, while N2.8 billion is for capital expenditure. The expenditure is about 67 per cent than the N4.37 billion appropriation in the 2017 budget, which consisted of N3.97 billion for recurrent and N399.5 million for capital projects.  In the current proposal, which is subject to approval by National Assembly, at least N1.58 billion was set aside for the overhaul and maintenance of five aircraft in the fleet, from about N2.9 billion budgeted for capital expenditure

The Whistleblower whose information led the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to $43m, N23.2m and £27,800 (N13bn) recovered from an Ikoyi apartment in April, may be given about N325m in the light of the Federal Government’s whistle-blower policy. The whistle-blower policy stated that any whistle-blower whose information leads to the recovery of over N5bn will attract a 2.5 per cent reward. EFCC boss, Ibrahim Magu, doesn't disclose the amount to be given to the whistle-blower, said the commission was already counselling him on how to spend the money. According to Magu statement while speaking at the ongoing 7th Session of the Conference of States Parties to the United Nations Convention Against Corruption holding in Vienna, Austria, said the whistle-blower was a man who had “never seen N1m in his life.” He, therefore, called on Nigerians who want a positive change in the country to take advantage of the whistle-blower policy.
