Buhari Edict Attorney General Over Looted Fund In Switzerland

President Muhammadu Buhari has given the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, the order to go after another $321 million laundered by former Head of State, Gen Sani Abacha. Malami, who may likely sign a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with Switzerland by December this year, got the approval to go after looted funds and other assets at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting chaired by President Muhammadu Buhari. Recall that at a consultative meeting on assets recovery in Abuja, recently, Malami, who has been in the eye of the storm over his involvement in the recall process of Abdulrasheed Maina, a former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Force, announced that efforts to recovery most of the looted funds were gaining momentum.

Lagos State Appoint SLGs And Supervisors In 20 Local Government

The Lagos State Government, on Thursday, announced the appointment of Secretaries to the Local Governments (SLGs) and Supervisors for the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas in the State. Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Tunji Bello in a statement, said the State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, authorised the release of the newly appointed SLGs and Supervisors, in line with the provisions of the Lagos Local Government Administration Law and the Guidelines for Administrative Procedures for Local Government. He said the appointment of the SLGs and Supervisors will aid the councils to hit the ground running to further deepen democratic values and culture at the grassroots in line with the present administration’s policy thrust of community-based governance and government of inclusion.

300million Stole Daily From Pension Fund

The former Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension, Mr. Abdulrasheed Maina, has finally broken his silence on the multi-billion naira pension fraud that took place when he was in charge of the reform task force four years ago, alleging that N300 million was stolen from the Office of Head of Service of the Federation daily before the advent of the Pension Transitional Directorate (PTAD). Given that he was declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and afterwards by Interpol, after being indicted in the N2.1 billion pension fraud, he broke his silence in hiding. Dressed in a black suit, a white shirt and red tie, Maina, in a video which went viral on the social media, said he went into hiding because assassins were allegedly after him. Nigeria Used 400million Condoms Yearly

The Society of Family Health has said that Nigerians consume over 400 million condoms yearly. Its Managing Director, Bright Ekweremadu, said this in Lagos on Tuesday. He was, however, quoted as saying that the 400 million condom consumption could fall below expectation based on the society’s estimation of unprotected sex in the country. He spoke during the launch of Flex condom, a brand that, he said, came with a lot of flavours and had more strength and could last longer during sex. Ekweremadu said, “We have been in the business of condom production for over 30 years. We have done a lot of things in educating people to embrace abstinence with our zip-up campaign. There are obviously sexually active Nigerians who may not totally abstain from sex and this led to our alternative, particularly at this time when HIV/AIDs is prevalent in the country

Maria Sharapova WTA Final

The former world number one Maria Sharapova reached her first WTA final since returning from a drugs ban as she beat Peng Shuai 6-3 6-1 at the Tianjin Open. Sharapova, came back to the tour in April following a 15-month ban for taking the banned drug meldonium. The Russian beat defending champion Peng in 78 minutes and maintained her record of not dropping a set this week. She will play 19-year-old world number 102 Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus, who beat Italy’s Sara Errani 6-1 6-3.
