FIFA Reject Real Madrid And Atletico Madrid Appeal Over Transfer Ban

On Thursday, FIFA dismissed appeals by Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid against a ban on registering new signing in the next two transfer windows for irregularities in the signing of foreign players under 18. Real and Atletico — last season’s Champions League finalists — were also fined 360,000 ($358,000) and 900,000 Swiss Francs respectively. The Spanish giants still have a final right of appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). “The FIFA Appeal Committee has decided to reject the appeals lodged by the two Spanish clubs Atletico de Madrid and Real Madrid and to confirm in their entirety the decisions rendered by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee in the respective cases relating to the protection of minors,” FIFA said in a statement. Both clubs were sanctioned in January, but by appealing had temporarily held off the ban during the transfer window which closed last month. Lagos State Approve Land For Foreign Investors

Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, on Thursday, demonstrated his commitment to attract foreign investors into Lagos by approving land for the establishment of a training centre in state where architects, civil engineers and craftsmen will be trained on modern trends and technologies in the construction sector. Mr Ambode, who gave the approval when he received a delegation from The Knauf Group, which is a German firm currently establishing a $75miilion building/construction tools manufacturing factory in Lagos, said the approval for the land became imperative in view of the need to encourage investors to continue to invest in Lagos. The Knauf Group is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of modern insulation materials, dry lining systems, plasters and accessories, thermal insulation composite systems, paints, floor screed, floor systems, and construction equipment and tools.

Lassa Fever Case Confirm In Ondo State

Ondo Government confirmed a case of Lassa fever at the Owo/Ose in Owo and Ose Local Governments Areas of the state on Wednesday while two other suspected cases are under investigation. State Commissioner for Health, Dr Dayo Adeyanju, who confirmed the case of the dreaded disease in Akure, Ondo State capital, said that the surveillance and containment machinery of government had been stepped up to prevent a spread of the disease. The disclosure of the health commissioner came during a briefing of journalists after a meeting with senior health officials and development partners which deliberated on the lassa fever case. The commissioner also supervised the distribution of more Information Education Communication (IEC) Materials on Lassa Fever to health centers across the state. .

Ncc Seal Nokia office in Lekki

Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) sealed the office of Nokia-Alcatel located in Lekki, Lagos for operating without license on Wednesday The Head of Enforcement Unit,Mr Salisu Abdul, while speaking with newsmen shortly after the sealing in Lagos, said that the company had been operating without license for years. Abdul said that during one of the commission’s monitoring activities, the team discovered that the company had not obtained the requisite authorisation to render services. He said that Nokia-Alcatel was involved in equipment manufacturing, supply and installation therefore it could have obtained the “Sale and Installation’’ license. According to him, the license, which barely cost N2 million will give Nokia the authority to operate wireless transmission, manufacturing and sale of equipment, among others. He said that after notifying the company for the need to be licensed, it only applied for the license about three months ago, but did not complete the process...

Buhari Administration Lack Ideas And Vision

Scathing criticism has continued to hit the administration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the current economic recession, as the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) again described the government of being bereft of ideas and vision to right the trend. It recalled that the previous administration had envisioned the present recession and opted to deregulate the sale of hydrocarbons in 2012 as well as encourage more savings in the Excess Crude Account under the Sovereign Wealth Fund (SWF), but those efforts were resisted and thwarted by the then opposition.  Spokesman of the PDP, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, stated this Monday in a statement in Abuja. Edo State Students Protest For Election Postponement

Edo State secondary school students have called for a postponement in the governorship election to another date because it collide with their GCE Mathematics examination. Apart from clashing with the examination, the students, who stormed the Government House, Benin City in protest. Added that holding the examination and the election on the same day would disenfranchise them. The students also said they would kick against any plan to be moved to other states for the Mathematics examination as planned by WAEC, adding that this would not only disorganise them but also put them at a disadvantage. Spokesman for the students, Iko Emmanuel Moses said: “Our position about the General Certificate Examination (GCE) in Edo State, the scheduled governorship election on the 10th of September.
