A mass funeral is holding in Italy after 284 people killed in Wednesday’s unexpected earthquake. The ceremony for 34 victims from the town of Arquata began at a sports hall in the regional capital, Ascoli Piceno, the BBC reports. The coffins, laid out in rows on the floor, include two painted white for two children killed. The Minister of Health in Nigeria, Prof. Isaac Adewole, on Thursday said Federal Government had obtained a 125-million-dollar loan from World Bank to fight the cases of polio and other health challenges in the Nigeria. Prof Adewole announce these while briefing the Senate Committee on Primary Health and Communicable Diseases in Abuja. Minister said that with support of the National Assembly, 60 million dollars would be earmarked for polio, while 65 million dollars would be used for the procurement of vaccines. He also stated that N10 billion had been released by the Federal Government from the 2016 budget to tackle the infectious disease. While decrying the fresh outbreak, the minister explain that about N30 billion would be required to face the menace. He said that following the outbreak, no fewer than 800,000 children under the age of five years had been immunised in five local government areas in Borno. The banking industry, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) yesterday barred nine banks from all for  eign exchange transactions for failing to remit the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation’s (NNPC’s) $2.125 billion to the Federal Government’s Treasury Single Account (TSA) domiciled in the apex bank. The banks, whose suspension would remain in force until they return all the funds to the TSA, are two tier-one banks and seven tier-two lenders. One of the banks, which also held some of these funds however, was said to  have escaped the banking watchdog’s hammer, as the lender, which had funds with the CBN, was able to remit its share of the funds through currency swap. These funds in question, which are over $5 bil lion in the banking industry before it was reduced to $2.125 billion in May, are NNPC’s share from the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG).
