24million Naira Fraud Allege Against Diamond Bank Manager

The Special Fraud Unit (SFU) on Tuesday accuse the former Diamond Bank Plc branch manager,Mr Chinedu Oguike, at Federal Court in Lagos for allegation of N24million fraud. The manager was charged with three counts of conspiracy, obtaining money by false pretence and advanced fee fraud. The defendant, who managed the bank’s Oyingbo, Ebutte-Metta, Lagos branch, was accused of obtaining the money from Ufomba Nnabugwu after promising to deliver a property in the Ijegun Egba area of Lagos to him. The Police prosecutor, Effiong Asuquo, said Oguike committed the alleged offence in 2014, adding that it contravenes Section 8(a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act 2006. Oguike was also accused of preparing phony loan facility documents for himself. He was said to have used the name of Edwin Ezeakachukwu and the Ijegun Egba property as collateral, to the victim’s detriment. The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge. suicide bomb kill more than 30 Syrian

Islamic jihadist group on Monday claimed liabilities for the suicide bombing that killed more than 30 Syrian rebel fighters in a blast near the Turkish border. IS, in a statement published on Twitter and the messaging service Telegram, said a suicide bomber detonated an explosive belt among rebels “getting ready to fight the Islamic State”. The blast on Sunday night struck the Atme border crossing between Turkey and the northern Syrian province of Idlib, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. Monitoring group said the anti-regime fighters were travelling by bus to Turkey then back into Syria towards the rebel bastion of Azaz, in Aleppo province. The attack killed 32 rebels as they were entering Turkey, the Britain-based Observatory said, updating an earlier toll on Sunday evening of 15. Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday stopped the Ahmed Makarfi-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party from going ahead with its plan to conduct the national convention of the party slated for Thursday. Justice Okon Abang ruled during the proceedings that lasted eight hours, that the interim order would subsist till the motion filed by the Ali Modu Sheriff-led faction seeking an interlocutory injunction against the convention is heard and determined. The judge fix Tuesday for the hearing of the Sherif faction’s motion for interlocutory injunction. Judge made the order after joining Makarfi and six other members of his caretaker committee as parties to the substantive suit which was filed last month by the Sheriff and members of his faction. Bill Gate Donate $1million to Borno Victims

Borno state Governor Kashim Shettima on Sunday mark the distribution of food items and farm outreach 40,000 victims of the Boko Haram insurgency through the help of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation which donated one million dollars to Borno State as a post conflict intervention that is meant to support victims who are returning to their communities. Governor Shettima launched at the support with the distribution of 25 kilogram bag of rice and 10 kilogram bag of beans to each of 1,100 households at Mainok village in Kaga local government area, 45 kilometers away from Maiduguri. The Governor announced that the officials of the State Government working with the Gates Foundation used the $1m to procure the food items and commenced funding of 100 hectares of farm where beans is being cultivated. Gunmen kill university lecturer

A lecturer, Dr. Aondosoo Tondo with University of Mkar, Mkar Gboko local government of Benue State was yesterday assassinated by unknown terrorist. Public Relations’ Officer of the institution, Mr. Suemo Shagba who say this to newsmen in a telephone conversation, said Tondo who resides in the University Stafff quarters was murdered at about 4 am by 4 unknown gunmen. According to him, the assassins came into the lecturer’s room while he was saying his early morning prayer with his family, did not request for anything and just shot him, adding that he later died at a teaching hospital in Gboko.
